Blackjack Strategy Guide

So now that Party Poker has started to offer Blackjack and sidebets to their players, I decided to add in this Blackjack Strategy Guide to help you not lose as much money, or maybe even win a buck or two.

While blackjack is another game to keep us fidgety people busy while playing 4 other tables of online poker, one thing you have to remember is that it is a player versus house game. The odds are stacked against you innately. In the long run, the house will always win when you play thousands of hands of online blackjack. The reason why they will win, is because you cannot neutralize their edge with card counting, unlike brick and mortar blackjack.

The one good thing about blackjack, is that the house edge isn't as large in blackjack as it is in games like roulette or keno if you use the proper blacjack strategy. With Party Poker's 8 deck, late surrender, dealer hits on soft 17 game, the house edge is still only about .54%. This means that you're expected to lose only about 50 cents per hundred dollars wagered in the long term. This isn't as bad as roulette's 5% house edge or keno's 25% house edge, but it is a house edge nevertheless.

Using the following blackjack strategy charts will help you to maximize your positive results while playing blackjack and minimize your losses. This basic blackjack strategy is mathematically the best way to play blackjack. Sure you might get lucky once or twice standing on 16 versus a dealer 8. But in the long run, it is important to not deviate from this blackjack strategy if you want to have a chance at winning some money. This blackjack strategy may seem aggressive at times, especially when you start doubling down on soft hands like soft 13 versus a dealer 5 or 6, but doubling down and splitting aggressively are some of the best tools the blackjack player has to overcome the odds given to us by the casino.

There are 4 blackjack strategy tables which will help you to pick which action is most appropriate in any given situation. The first table goes over how to play hard hands. Party Poker does offer a late surrender, so take advantage of that and surrender your 16's against dealer's 9s, 10s, and Aces.

The next table will explain when to use your double down advantage when you hold a 9, Ten, or Ace. After this we have a table that shows you how to play soft hands. Take advantage of the casino when they have 5's and 6's showing and double down your soft hands. Lasty we come down to our pairs and splitting table. This blackjack chart will help you understand exactly when you want to split your pairs and when to just hit with them. If you remember nothing else from this table, remember to always split Aces and Eights.

I suggest either bookmarking this page or printing out these charts until you are very familiar with them. If you want an image you can print out, you can download it here.
